Maximizing Pleasure: Understanding Your Cycle and Sex

pleasure Jul 27, 2023

I’m excited to dive into the exciting topic of sex and how understanding your menstrual cycle can enhance your pleasure and take your sex life to the next level. We’re going to take a look at the different phases of your cycle and how they affect libido, desire, and physical sensations.

To learn more about your journey of self-discovery and empowerment, you can listen to my podcast “Wisdom of the Womb” which comes out every week!

Let’s take a look into the first phase. The Menstrual Phase. This marks the beginning of your cycle, characterized by bleeding for 3-6 days. There may be opinions on period sex, however, it's important to honor your body's needs and set boundaries if necessary. There is a common belief that says using lube during this phase is unnecessary. However, it can be helpful due to the quick-drying nature of blood. The physical pressure on the pelvic floor during menstruation can also increase pleasure and desire. It's also normal if you don't feel particularly aroused during this phase, due to the hormone activity being generally low.

The next phase we dive into is the Follicular Phase. This phase occurs after menstruation and lasts until a few days before ovulation. You’ll notice that this lasts around 7-10 days, and is characterized by curiosity and a love for novelty. Your brain chemistry during this phase craves new experiences. This creates an excellent and exciting time for exploring in the bedroom. You can use this time to try new toys, and positions, or engage in tantric massage or role play.

The next phase we take a look at is the Ovulation Phase. This phase lasts for about 24 hours but energetically extends for 5-6 days. During the ovulation phase, your estrogen levels will peak, sparking increased libido and confidence. This is also known as your fertile window, making your body in its prime for reproduction. Your physical features become more attractive, and your body produces ample cervical mucus, providing natural lubrication. Multiple orgasms are more likely during ovulation, and effective communication and dirty talk can further enhance the experience.

If you want to have a more exciting sex life, understanding your menstrual cycle is key. By embracing the unique characteristics of each phase, you can optimize pleasure, desire, and intimacy. It’s also important to remember to communicate your desires and needs with your partner. Embrace the power of your cycle and enjoy the journey of sexual empowerment and fulfillment!
